One of the most spectacular hikes in the entire Dolomites — and arguably the most rewarding. The loop via Forcella Marcoira (strongly recommended over the standard out-and-back) starts at Passo Tre Croci, just outside Cortina. The destination is a surreal turquoise alpine lake, but the trail itself is full of insane views the entire way. The Forcella Marcoira route adds elevation and scrambling near the top but keeps you away from crowds on 95% of the hike. Rifugio Alfonso Vandelli at the lake for lunch — cash only. Trailhead parking along the road, arrive by 7:30am.

The third highest peak in the Dolomites — and you get there by cable car (Freccia nel Cielo) right from the center of Cortina. A short walk from the top station to the summit with some exposed sections and views that rival anything else on this trip. Barely mentioned on social media despite being extraordinary. Go in the afternoon (3pm) and you'll practically have it to yourself — last cable car down is around 4:50pm. Perfect bolt-on to a Cortina afternoon or to add to Day 4 arrival if you arrive with time.
